Our EnviroGum natural timber is a eucalyptus / gum species that is sustainably plantation grown in both Eastern Europe and South America; both sites use seeds sourced from Australia.
Sapphire have selected this particular timber for it’s properties which are quite close to cedar (softwood). EnviroGum does weigh around 30% more than cedar, but is also a lot tougher and more resistant to dinting and minor damage as it is closer to a hardwood in its composition.

Upon the completion of trials on this eucalypt timber resource, EnviroGum timber cabinetry has been recently introduced to our product range due to the challenge of increasing cedar prices and availability. As prices have continued to escalate at alarming rates, largely being driven by the reductions in harvesting areas of the timber in Canada, we addressed the need to provide our customers with an attractive alternative to our long-standing cedar cabinetry.

Eucalyptus is a durable and workable timber supply which responds well to machining. We have the timber machined locally to our profile so it is readily available to avoid delays in manufacturing.
